DESCRIPTION
In FY 23/24 the County requested $5 Million for sidewalks in the Poinciana Community from the Federal government. On August 27th, 2024, the County was awarded $850,000.00 to complete a project known as the Polk County Children and Pedestrian Safety Project. This project targets sidewalk design and construction along prioritized roadways in the Poinciana Community to provide pedestrian access throughout the development. Once this agreement is approved, the County staff will evaluate and prioritize the locations of the sidewalks to be constructed by this funding within the Poinciana Community.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board Approve a Federal-Funded Grant Agreement with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Grant Agreement #B-24-CP-FL-0651, associated resolution, CIP Amendment and budget transfer to amend the budget for unanticipated revenue for sidewalks in the Poinciana Community. ($850,000.00 one-time unanticipated revenue)
FISCAL IMPACT
Upon approval of the agreement and CIP Amendment and budget resolution, Funding in the amount of $850,000.00 will be transferred from the Special Revenue Grants Fund to a project specific fund within the Roads and Drainage Sidewalk CIP Project.
