DESCRIPTION
This is a County-initiated request to establish a new Future Land Use designation, the Main Street Corridor (MSC), in the Future Land Use Element. The MSC is only for Redevelopment Districts listed in Section 2.124-F. The new section addresses characteristics, designations and mapping, location criteria, and development criteria.
State law requires one Planning Commission hearing, which was held on May 6, 2026, with a recommendation for approval (Vote 7:0). This is the adoption hearing. This request was transmitted to the Department of Florida Commerce on June 2, 2026.
The amendment was originally approved by the BoCC on July 21, 2026. However, based on additional feedback from the Department of Commerce, this amendment has been slightly revised, and is presented for readoption.
