DESCRIPTION
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office Central County Jail (CCJ) expansion project was funded at $3 million in FY 25/26, but the timeline has been pushed a few years into the future. The Kathleen Government Center CIP project is poised to move forward now, so shifting the existing budget from the jail expansion project will allow Polk County to completely design the project, hire a Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR), and establish a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP), thereby identifying the exact amount of funds needed for this project. Future fund requests are anticipated for replenishment of the jail expansion project.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board approval for a CIP amendment and a budget transfer of $3,000,000 from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Central County Jail (CCJ) expansion CIP project to the Kathleen Government Center CIP project.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds in the amount of $3,000,000 are available in the General Capital Improvement Fund.
