Adopt a Resolution Setting Speed Limits on Oak Run Circle and Oak Run Drive, Within the Oak Run Subdivision, near Lakeland.  ($100.07 one-time expense)

body

DESCRIPTION

The Roads & Drainage Division received a request from a representative of the Oak Run Homeowners Association to reduce the speed limit within the subdivision. In researching the request, the Roads & Drainage Division discovered that Resolutions establishing speed limits for Oak Run Circle and Oak Run Drive could not be located and may not exist.  Oak Run is located in the Lakeland area in S-12, T-27S, R-23E, and its roads are classified as Local Residential.

Staff conducted traffic studies within the Oak Run subdivision as outlined in FS 316.189, and investigated the five-year crash history.  Based on the research, it was determined that postings of 20 M.P.H. are reasonable for these roads.  To comply with statutory requirements, it is necessary for the Board to adopt a Resolution establishing the proposed speed limits.

RECOMMENDATION

Request Board adopt the associated Resolution to establish the proposed speed zones for Oak Run Circle and Oak Run Drive. Cost for installation of signs is estimated at $100.07.

FISCAL IMPACT

Funds are budgeted in the FY 23/24 Transportation Millage Fund.
