Accept Quit Claim Deed for property being donated for conservation preservation, Sorrells Estate parcel. (No Fiscal Impact)

DESCRIPTION
The County’s Land Donation Program allows property owners to donate property to the County for which there is a need or use by the County. A representative for the owner of a certain parcel within Polk County contacted county staff and offered to donate the property to the County. The property, identified as Parcel ID Number 242525-000000-022160, is a vacant parcel located in the northern part of the County. County staff reviewed the property and determined that there is a use for the property as it is located within a recognized State Conservation Area known as the Green Swamp Florida Forever Board of Trustees Project area. The subject property is a rectangular-shaped parcel containing approximately 1.1-acres with very little market value and limited or no access.
Melvin H. Sorrells and Dorothy B. Sorrels, his wife, acquired the property in 1983, and both have since passed with Dorothy predeceasing Melvin. The duly authorized Executors of Melvin’s Estate have executed and delivered a Quit Claim Deed to the County for the property. Accepting the Quit Claim Deed will allow the County to take ownership of the property being donated to be utilized for conservation preservation.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board accept and approve for recording the aforementioned Quit Claim Deed.
