DESCRIPTION
The Facilities Management Division requested Procurement solicit proposals from qualified firms for architectural and engineering services to expand and modify the existing Polk County Medical Examiner's office located in Winter Haven, FL. A expansion study, completed by Furr, Wegman & Banks Architects on March 5, 2024, confirmed the need for an expansion.
Polk County is the fastest growing county in Florida and one of the fastest growing in the country. As a result, the District 10 Medical Examiner's Office, which serves Polk, Hardee, and Highlands Counties, has outgrown their current facility.
Request for Proposal (RFP) 25-186, Architectural and Engineering Services for Medical Examiner's Office Expansion was issued, and three firms submitted proposals (one firm withdrew prior to scoring meeting). The selection committee met on April 10, 2025, to evaluate and score the proposals. The two remaining firms were elevated to interviews. On April 10, 2025, the selection committee conducted interviews and received presentations from both proposers. After the interviews, the selection committee ranked the proposers. The consensus of the selection committee was to request the Board authorize staff to enter into contract negotiations with both proposers, beginning with the highest ranked proposer, Harvard Jolly, Inc.
