DESCRIPTION
East Palm Street is a County-maintained roadway running from N. Miami Street eastward for approximately nine tenths of a mile to its dead-end. The road is classified as a local residential roadway and lies within and/or adjacent to the municipal limits of the City of Davenport ("City"). The portion of E. Palm Street from N. Miami Avenue to Power Line Road is proposed to be transferred to the City in conjunction the City's planned project to improve an adjacent recreational park. Additionally, unopened, unmaintained, platted rights-of-way labeled "East Boulevard" from North Boulevard southerly to East Palmetto Street as shown on the Map of Davenport and on the plat of Resubdivision of Block 1 by Holly Hill Grove & Fruit Company located within the municipal limits of the City are proposed to be transferred to the City in conjunction with said park project.
Florida Statutes allow for the transfer of public roads between jurisdictions by mutual agreement of the affected governments and a conveyance of the associated rights-of-way by deed. The City has reviewed and approved, at its meeting held April 28, 2025, the Agreements for Transfer of Public Roads and has agreed to accept the County Deeds for the associated rights-of-ways. Approving said Agreements and authorizing the County Deeds to the City for the associated rights-of-ways will transfer ownership of the subject roads and platted rights-of-way and will remove the roadway from the County's Road inventory thereby allowing the County to cease maintenance and future liability responsibilities associated with it.
