DESCRIPTION
In 2025, the Utilities Division submitted a request for inclusion in a funding program from the State of Florida for facilities impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Polk County was selected to apply for approximately $14 million of grant funding to be applied towards construction of equalization basins at the Southwest and Northwest Wastewater Treatment Facilities.
The grant program is being administered by the State Revolving Fund (SRF) Loan. As such, Polk County has applied for a loan which will be 100% forgiven. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection has requested the Board adopt a resolution affirming the Utilities Division Director’s authority to submit the application.
