DESCRIPTION
The Polk County Fleet Management Division requested Procurement to piggyback an agreement with Dana Safety Supply, Inc. from the Bradford County Sheriff's Office to purchase and install lighting and specialty equipment on County vehicles.
Fleet Management currently installs lighting and specialty equipment on County utility vehicles for county divisions such as code enforcement, utilities, fire, etc. The lighting is provided through an agreement with NAPA Auto Parts and Fleet Management staff performs the installation.
This agreement with Dana Safety Supply, will provide an alternative for Fleet Management to provide these services which in turn would free up fleet technicians to perform other maintenance and repair services. This would decrease the turnaround time for scheduled vehicle maintenance and various repair services, resulting in less vehicle down time for divisions throughout the County.
The estimated fiscal impact is contingent upon the number of vehicles replaced each fiscal year as part of the County's vehicle replacement program as well as the need to install replacement lighting/equipment. While the cost to purchase the lighting is similar within both the NAPA Auto Parts and Dana Safety Supply agreements, there is an estimated increase in Fleet's operating budget to have Dana Safety Supply perform the installation. This increase will be offset by the increased productivity and turnaround times Fleet Management spends on maintaining and repairing the County's fleet of vehicles.
The term of the agreement with all extensions, is through July 14, 2029.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board approve piggyback agreement with Dana Safety Supply, Inc for vehicle lighting, parts and installation services for the Fleet Management Division.
