body
DESCRIPTION
The Roads & Drainage Division has received a request from Parks & Recreation to restrict parking on Old Kissimmee Road. Old Kissimmee Road is in the Davenport area in S-12, T-26S, R-27E, and is classified as a Local Residential road.
Staff conducted parking studies along the road to analyze this request and determined that parents of students attending Mater Academy are parking along the frontage of Loughman Park, which is near the school, creating ingress and egress issues for park patrons.
Pursuant to FS 316.008, the Board of County Commissioners is vested with the authority to set parking restrictions on County roadways. Additionally, the posting of the requested restrictions will promote public safety and assist the Polk County Sheriff’s Office in their enforcement efforts.
To comply with statutory requirements, it is necessary for the Board to adopt a Resolution establishing the parking restrictions.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board adopt the associated Resolution to establish parking restrictions for Old Kissimmee Road. Estimated cost for installation of the signs is $266.10.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are budgeted in the FY 25/26 Transportation Millage Fund.
