DESCRIPTION
On March 5, 2019, the Board entered an Interlocal Agreement between Polk County and the City of Lakeland (City) for the Chestnut Road Sidewalk Project. Polk County and the City agreed to the need for sidewalk along Chestnut Road between US 92 (New Tampa Highway) and SR 546 (West Memorial Boulevard) for pedestrian connectivity. As part of the agreement, the City will reimburse the County $50,000 for design and $100,000 for construction once the Project is completed.
On December 26, 2019, the County Manager approved CSA No. 17-056-02 with the Consultant to provide professional engineering services for the Chestnut Road Sidewalk Project at a not-to-exceed fee of $97,092.10.
On August 18, 2020, the Board approved Modification No. 1 to CSA No. 17-056-02 to amend the Scope of Services to allow the Consultant to begin Phase 2 by adding design and permitting services for the Chestnut Road Sidewalk Project. Sidewalk will be designed along the east side of Chestnut Road with a pedestrian bridge at Itchepackesassa Creek. Modification No. 1 added $257,750.00 to the CSA.
During the design phase, the Scope of Services was expanded to include Subsurface Utility Exploration (SUE). Therefore, an amendment to the Scope of Services was needed to allow the Consultant to finish the design, perform the SUE work, and to extend the contract time for post design services through construction which will be done in phases. Modification No. 2 added an additional $17,635.00 to the CSA.
On January 24, 2025, the County Manager approved Modification No. 3 to allow the Consultant to provide post design and construction services for the Project. Modification No. 3 was approved for a not-to-exceed cost of $35,710.50 and brought the ...
