Accept Warranty Deed from the Polk County School Board for additional right-of-way associated with Gilbert Street. (No fiscal impact)

DESCRIPTION
The County has been in discussions with the City of Eagle Lake (“City”) regarding the transfer of the County’s interest in that portion of Gilbert Street lying east of Cameron Road in conjunction with proposed development to the east within the city limits. In preparation for the transfer, it was discovered that the property previously conveyed to the County does not encompass a portion of the existing roadway along the north side. The property to the north is owned by the School Board of Polk County (“School Board”) and is the site of an elementary school known as Pinewood Elementary. The County identified a parcel which would accommodate the existing roadway and contacted the School Board and requested the additional property to accommodate the roadway. The School Board has agreed to the request and has approved, at its meeting held February 24, 2026, a Warranty Deed for the parcel. Accepting the Warranty Deed will give the County the additional right-of-way for Gilbert Street and allow for the transfer of the roadway to the City.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board accept the above referenced Warranty Deed.
