body

DESCRIPTION

The Roads & Drainage Division received a request from a representative of the Cascara Homeowners Association to post speed limits within the subdivision. In researching the request, the Roads & Drainage Division discovered that, although the roads are currently posted 30 m.p.h., a Resolution establishing speed limits could not be found and may not exist.  Cascara is located in the Auburndale area in S-26, T-27S, R-25E, and its roads are classified as Local Residential.

Staff conducted traffic studies within Cascara as outlined in FS 316.189, and investigated the five-year crash history.  Based on the research, it was determined that postings of 25 M.P.H. are reasonable for the subdivision roads.  To comply with statutory requirements, it is necessary for the Board to adopt a Resolution establishing the proposed speed limits.

RECOMMENDATION

Request Board adopt the associated Resolution to establish the proposed speed zones for Ballaria Court, Capri Way, Cascara Lane, San Mauro Drive, and Valentina Lane. Cost for installation of signs is estimated at $1,030.10.

FISCAL IMPACT

Funds are budgeted in the FY 24/25 Transportation Millage Fund.
