DESCRIPTION

Florida Department of Health in Polk County (FDOH) provides dental services that include, but are not limited to, exams, cleanings, X-rays, fluoride treatments, sealants, pain relief, amalgam fillings, composite filings, sedative filings, and routine tooth extractions. FDOH has dental clinics in Haines City and Lakeland.

Since October 1, 2017, the County has contracted with FDOH to provide these services to eligible low-income residents including those enrolled in the Polk HealthCare Plan. The renewal contract is effective October 1, 2025 to September 30, 2028.

This funding request was presented to and approved by the Citizen’s HealthCare Oversight Committee.

 

RECOMMENDATION

Approve the amendment and restatement to the contract with Florida Department of Health in Polk County to provide dental services to eligible low-income county residents.

 

FISCAL IMPACT

Funds are available in the Indigent Health Care Funds.
