Adopt a Resolution Setting Speed Limit on Hutchins Road, near Fort Meade. ($121.32 one-time expense)
body
DESCRIPTION
The Roads & Drainage Division received a request from an area resident to reduce the speed limit on Hutchins Road. In researching the request, the Roads & Drainage Division discovered a Resolution establishing a speed zone of 45 M.P.H., adopted by the Board on May 18, 1982, which is attached to the proposed Resolution as Exhibit “A.” Hutchins Road is located in the Fort Meade area in S-18, T-32S, R-25E, and is classified as a Rural Minor Collector road.
Staff conducted traffic studies as outlined in FS 316.189, and investigated the five-year crash history. Based on the research, it was determined that a posting of 35 M.P.H. is reasonable for this road. To comply with statutory requirements, it is necessary for the Board to adopt a Resolution establishing the proposed speed limit.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board adopt the associated Resolution to establish the proposed speed zone for Hutchins Road. Cost for installation of signs is estimated at $131.32.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are budgeted in the FY 23/24 Transportation Millage Fund.
