DESCRIPTION
The Roads & Drainage Division received a request from an area resident to reduce the speed limit along the western portion of the roadway. In researching the request, the Roads & Drainage Division discovered Resolution 2025-125, establishing speed zones of 45 M.P.H., adopted by the Board on October 7, 2025, which is attached to the proposed Resolution as Exhibit “A.” Bomber Road is located in the Winter Haven area in S-14, T-29S, R-25E, and is classified as an Urban Collector road.
Staff conducted traffic studies on Bomber Road as outlined in FS 316.189, and investigated the five-year crash history. It was subsequently determined that postings of 35 M.P.H. and 45 M.P.H. are reasonable for this road. To comply with statutory requirements, it is necessary for the Board to adopt a Resolution establishing the proposed speed limits.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board adopt the associated Resolution to establish the proposed speed zones for Bomber Road. Cost for installation of signs is estimated at $242.40.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are budgeted in the FY 25/26 Transportation Millage Fund.
