DESCRIPTION
On December 26, 2018, the Board Approved Professional Service Agreement #18-073 (Agreement) with Dewberry Engineers, Inc. to provide professional engineering services in connection with the CR 557 Widening Project. The notice to proceed for the CSA was January 9, 2019.
On April 2, 2021, Polk County entered into a State-Funded Grant Agreement (FPN: 445143-1-44-01) for the right-of-way acquisition phase of the CR 557 Widening Project with FDOT, wherein FDOT agreed to assist the right-of-way funding of the project with an additional $5,000,000.00.
The FDOT has agreed to fund the project with an additional $2,834,812.00 for County Road 557 Widening from US 17/92 St to I-4. They propose to enter into a State-Funded Grant Agreement (FPN: 445143-2-54-01/02) with the County to provide Construction funds in the amount of $2,834,812.00. The County will be responsible for any costs in excess of the State provided funds.
On November 5, 2024, the Board approved the State-Funded Grant Agreement with the Construction agreement needing to be fully executed by June 30, 2025. In order for the agreement to be fully executed, final design plans were required to be submitted to FDOT. However, the submittal of the final design plans has taken longer than originally expected because of plan changes initiated by the County which required additional time for the design consultant to complete.
Therefore, the FDOT has drafted a new State-Funded Grant Agreement with the Construction agreement needing to be fully executed by June 30, 2027. This will give the consultant sufficient time to complete all plan changes in the project.
