Adopt a Resolution Setting Speed Limits on Grandview Parkway and Posner Boulevard, near Davenport. ($1,332.70 one-time expense)
body
DESCRIPTION
The Polk County Board of County Commissioners was recently transferred the ownership of and maintenance responsibility for Grandview Parkway and Posner Boulevard from the City Center Community Development District. As new roads in the County’s inventory, Resolutions setting speed limits for the two roads do not exist. Grandview Parkway and Posner Boulevard are located in the Davenport area in S-17 and 18, T-26S, R-27E, and are classified as Urban Collector roads.
Staff conducted traffic studies within the area, as outlined in Section 316.189 of the Florida Statutes, and investigated the five-year crash history. It was subsequently determined that postings of 35 M.P.H. are reasonable for Grandview Parkway and Posner Boulevard. To comply with statutory requirements, it is necessary for the Board to adopt a Resolution establishing the proposed speed limits.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board adopt the associated Resolution to establish the proposed speed zones for Grandview Parkway and Posner Boulevard. Cost of installation of signs is estimated at $1,332.70.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are budgeted in the FY 25/26 Transportation Millage Fund.
