DESCRIPTION
In January 2021 the Crooked Lake Park Sewerage Company (the "Company") was the owner and operator of a domestic wastewater treatment facility and a wastewater collection and transmission system (the "CLP Wastewater System") serving the Crooked Lake Park residential subdivision located between U. S. Highway 27 and Crooked Lake, south of County Road 640. Later that year, the Company abandoned the CLP Wastewater System assets as provided in Florida Statutes, section 367.165. Upon the County's petition to the Tenth Judicial Circuit the Court appointed the County receiver of the CLP Wastewater System assets.

As receiver, the County has improved and repaired the CLP Wastewater System so it can operate in compliance with Florida Department of Environmental Protection requirements. The improvements include removing the CLP Wastewater System treatment facility and installing a wastewater force main to connect the subdivision to a City of Lake Wales wastewater force main which conveys the wastewater to the City's wastewater facility for treatment. When planning and making these improvements the County has worked with the City of Lake Wales which owns and operates the potable water system serving the Crooked Lake Park subdivision. As the County and City water utility staffs discussed the County's planned CLP Wastewater System improvements, each staff concluded it would be in the best interest of the Crooked Lake Park subdivision residents, the City, and the County, for the City to accept and incorporate the CLP Wastewater System into the Lake Wales Wastewater System after the County completed all its repairs and improvements to that system.
