title

Approve Amendment to the State Highway Lighting, Maintenance and Compensation Agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to Include Updated Work Order and Exhibit “A” for FY 2026/2027 ($135,893.49 one-time revenue/no match required).

body

DESCRIPTION

On June 24, 2020, the Board of County Commissioners executed the State Highway Lighting, Maintenance, and Compensation Agreement with the FDOT.  This agreement provides reimbursement to local governments for a portion of the cost to maintain and operate highway lighting on the State Highway System. For each future fiscal year, the FDOT and Polk County, as Maintaining Agency, shall agree on the amount to be paid prior to the fiscal year beginning. FDOT will issue a Work Order confirming the amount and authorizing the performance of maintenance for each new fiscal year.

Reimbursement is based on the number of highway luminaires maintained at a statewide average rate of $358.33 per luminaire, per year, and $137.92 per traffic signal luminaire, per year.  Polk County maintains 365 luminaires, for a subtotal of $130,790.45, and 37 traffic signal luminaires, for a subtotal of $5,103.04. Therefore, the final compensation to Polk County for FY 2026/2027 will be $135,893.49, as stated in Exhibit “A”.

RECOMMENDATION

Request Board approve the Amendment to the State Highway Lighting, Maintenance and Compensation Agreement, executed June 24, 2020, between the FDOT and Polk County to include updated Work Order and Exhibit “A” for FY 2026/2027.

FISCAL IMPACT

Funds in the amount of $135,893.49 received from the FDOT will be deposited in the Transportation Millage Fund.
