SUMMARY

Chapter 427, Florida Statutes, assigns the Designated Official Planning Agency (DOPA) the responsibility of recommending a single Community Transportation Coordinator (CTC) for each service area. The Polk Transportation Planning Organization (Polk TPO) serves as the DOPA for Polk County. The Lakeland Area Mass Transit District (d/b/a Citrus Connection) currently fulfills the role of CTC, providing transportation services to Polk County residents.

At the June 11, 2026, Florida Commission for the Transportation Disadvantaged Business Meeting, a recommendation was made to redesignate Citrus Connection as the CTC for Polk County. Following this action, a new Memorandum of Agreement was executed between the Commission for the Transportation Disadvantaged and the Lakeland Area Mass Transit District, establishing the CTC designation for the period of July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2031.
