DESCRIPTION
On March 2, 2021, the Board approved Agreement 2021-016 with AECOM Technical Services to perform CEI services for the West Pipkin Road from Medulla Road to SR 37 construction project for a total not-to-exceed amount of $3,076,701.05.
West Pipkin Road is a two-lane collector road in south Lakeland that connects County Line Road to SR 37 (South Florida Avenue). To address Level of Service (LOS) issues due to growth and development in the area, Polk County is planning to widen West Pipkin Road from two lanes to four lanes to add capacity and improve the LOS. The limits of the widening project are from Medulla Road to SR 37. The section from Medulla Road to Old Hwy 37 is scheduled to be four-laned. The section from Dorman Road to SR 37 is scheduled to be three-laned.
On May 21, 2024, the Board approved Amendment No. 1 for additional CEI staffing along with subconsultant services for borings and vibration monitoring in the amount of $635,525.62.
On December 3, 2024, the Board approved Change Order (CO) No. 6 to construction contract 2021-059 with Hubbard Construction Company to construct the project. This CO increased the amount of the construction contract by $606,172.05 for maintenance of traffic work zone signs, temporary signalization, plan revisions and additional funds for pavement contingencies in the amount of $44,220,732.91. The CO also increased the contract time by 163 days.
This Amendment No. 2 is needed to provide for additional man-hours required to continue CEI administration through completion of construction project in the amount of $470,095.55, bringing the new not-to-exceed amount of the agreement to $4,182,322.22.
