DESCRIPTION

This is a County-initiated request for a LDC Text Amendment to Chapter 7, Section 707, to clarify sidewalk requirements along developments with frontage on County roadways, including those within cities and Utility Enclave Areas; and Chapter 8, Section 824, to require internal sidewalks within all major subdivisions. State law requires one Planning Commission hearing, which was held on March 1, 2023, with a recommendation of approval (7:0).

Section 163.3202, Florida Statutes (F.S.) requires the Board to adopt Land Development Code (LDC) regulations consistent with the implementation of the Polk County Comprehensive Plan. Amendments to the LDC require two public hearings before the Board to be adopted.

RECOMMENDATION

Request Board set the first reading on April 4, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. and the second reading on April 18, 2023, at 9:30 a.m.
