Approve Brynjulfson CPA Auditing Services Engagement Letter for FY2024 Auditing Services (Action)

DESCRIPTION
Brynjulfson CPA, P.A. has been providing the Polk Regional Water Cooperative (PRWC) auditing services since 2017, beginning with Fiscal Year (FY) 2016. Since then, the PRWC has extended the contract for auditing services each year. In FY2019, additional services were added to the contract to include a State Single Audit for work required related to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) State Revolving Fund (SRF) Loans which continue today. For FY2024 services the PRWC is adding the preparation of financial statements to the scope of services previously performed by our accounting firm, Clifton Larson Allen (CLA).
Presented for the Board’s consideration is an engagement letter for auditing services. The fee for the Fiscal Year 2024 audit for basic financial statements is $26,900, for the state single audit is $5,460, and for the federal single audit is $4,420. Additional hourly rates are provided in the engagement letter for preparation of the audited financial statements which is expected to cost approximately $4,000. The anticipated final costs for auditing services for FY2024 is $40,780.
The tentative FY2025 PRWC Budget provides appropriations of $32,000 for this engagement letter for auditing services. Staff will do a budget refinement to account for the $8,780 shortfall.
RECOMMENDATION
Approve the engagement letter from Brynjulfson CPA for FY2024 auditing services, including the state single audit, federal single audits and preparation of audited financial statements.
FISCAL IMPACT
The financial impact to the PRWC for FY2023 will be approximately $40,780 for auditing services.
