DESCRIPTION
The County has a project to improve and realign Thompson Nursery Road from West Lake Ruby to U.S. Highway 17 consisting of primarily a new alignment for a four-lane corridor which has been split into four segments. Segment 4 of the project consists of primarily widening the existing Eloise Loop Road from its intersection with West Lake Ruby to a point approximately 1-mile to the west of said intersection along with a small portion of Thompson Nursery Road to the east of said intersection and engineering design associated with this segment is in its final stages.
The owner of the property located at the northeast corner of Eloise Loop Road and West Lake Ruby Road is currently developing the property as a grocery store with outparcels. The owner has been working with the County to coordinate its plans with the road project and the County has made adjustments to the roadway plans to accommodate two entrance drives on Thompson Nursery Road which serve the development. To accommodate the construction of the entrance drives in conjunction with the road project the County requested temporary construction easements. Additionally, the County requested a small right-of-way parcel located at the southwest corner of the parcel to accommodate the construction of a traffic signal pole associated with intersection improvements for the road project. The owner, Publix Super Markets, Inc. ("Publix"), has agreed to both requests and has executed and delivered a Quit Claim Deed for the additional right-of-way along with a Temporary Construction Easement to the County. Accepting the Quit Claim Deed and Temporary Construction Easement from Publix will give the County the right-of-way and easement needed from the development parcel for the road project.
