DESCRIPTION
Polk County meets the definition of a Covered Entity under the HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules, 45 CFR §160.103. Employees across several County divisions and programs regularly access, store, or transmit protected health information, including Fire Rescue, the Rohr Home, Indigent Health Care, Healthy Families, Probation, Risk Management and Human Resources.
The County desires the services of a legal consultant to conduct a privacy and security review of the County’s healthcare components to ensure compliance with all HIPAA requirements.
The attached Agreement for Legal Services with the law firm of Panza, Maurer & Maynard, PA, provides services which will consist of information gathering, development HIPAA related of policies and procedures, and coordination with third parties related to the County’s current HIPAA compliance posture.
The firm’s hourly rate for services is $300 per hour, for a total cost not to exceed $149,900.
RECOMMENDATION
Approve, and authorize the Chairman to execute, the Agreement for Legal Services with Panza, Maurer & Maynard, PA.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are budgeted and available in the General County Administrative Budget.
