body

DESCRIPTION

Since December 1986, the Imperial Polk Gun Club, Inc. a Florida not-for-profit corporation (“Club”) has utilized a portion of real property owned by the County under a lease agreement to provide facilities to the residents of Polk County for shotgun sports operations which include skeet and trap shooting.  The property is located on property associated with, and adjacent to, the County’s Simmers-Young Park in the Winter Haven area.  The existing lease is due to expire on December 31, 2026, and does not contain any provisions for renewal terms.  The Club has requested to continue its use of the County owned property for its operations.  In order to bring the lease up to current standards and clarify some of the terms and conditions as well as to more narrowly define the lease area to match the existing facilities, a new lease was prepared and presented to the Club.  The proposed lease agreement is for an initial term of ten (10) years beginning January 1, 2027, and provides for one renewal term of an additional ten (10) years.  The Club has agreed to the proposed lease and has executed and delivered the Lease Agreement to the County.  Approving the Lease Agreement, along with a resolution authorizing the lease of the associated property, will allow the Club to continue its long-standing operations.

RECOMMENDATION

Request Board approve the Lease Agreement and adopt a resolution authorizing the lease of the property associated therewith.

FISCAL IMPACT

No fiscal impact
