DESCRIPTION

In June 2022, the State of Florida enacted legislation that granted city and county governments the ability to ban smoking at public parks and beaches but includes an exception for unfiltered cigars.  The new law became effective on July 1, 2022, and is now codified at Fla. Stat. Sec. 386.209 and falls within the chapter that is now titled Florida Clean Air Action. 

The proposed Ordinance will prohibit smoking and vaping in public parks within unincorporated Polk County.

 

 

RECOMMENDATION

Adopt the proposed ordinance prohibiting smoking and vaping in public parks within unincorporated Polk County. 

 

 

FISCAL IMPACT

No fiscal impact.
