Reappoint JaQuis McCullough to Housing and Neighborhood Development's Affordable Housing Advisory Committee (AHAC) beginning retroactively January 1, 2024, and ending December 31, 2026.

DESCRIPTION
The AHAC is an organized group of concerned citizens appointed by the Board of County Commissioners (BoCC). Its mission is to eliminate substandard housing conditions within the county, provide increased opportunities for all of Polk County's current and future very low-, low-, and moderate-income residents and special needs populations to obtain safe, affordable housing. The By-Laws of the AHAC, under Section II-Membership, states that members shall be appointed for staggered 3-year terms. The AHAC will meet as needed, approximately quarterly, to review established policies and procedures, ordinances, land development regulations, and the adopted local government comprehensive plan.
The BoCC established the AHAC as required by Florida Statutes, Section 420.9076 to participate in the SHIP Program. The AHAC must be comprised of at least 8 (eight) members but not more than 11 (eleven) members, with at least six (6) members representing statute specified categories of employment or involvement with affordable housing. Polk County must maintain the AHAC to remain compliant with Florida Statutes, Section 420.9072 and to be eligible for SHIP grant funds. The AHAC members are dedicated professionals who volunteer their time and expertise to serve the citizens of Polk County.
JaQuis McCullough is a citizen who resides within the jurisdiction of the local governing body making the appointments.
RECOMMENDATION
Reappoint JaQuis McCullough to HND's AHAC for a three-year term, beginning retroactively January 1, 2024, and ending December 31, 2026.
