DESCRIPTION

Section 163.3171, Florida Statutes, provides for two jurisdictions to enter into an agreement for the purposes of joint planning.  On March 17, 2019, Polk County and the City of Auburndale renewed and updated a previously adopted 2009 Joint Planning Agreement (JPA) to assist in the coordination of planning for growth in the greater Auburndale area.  Pursuant to Section 12 of the JPA, the term of the agreement was extended for a period of one (1) year to expire on March 18, 2020, and was extended again on March 17, 2020, to expire on March 17, 2021. The agreement was extended once more on March 16, 2021, for a period of three (3) years to expire on March 18, 2024. Polk County and the City of Auburndale have mutually agreed to amend the Agreement and extend the term for a three-year period. The City of Auburndale approved this amendment at their March 18, 2024, City Commission Meeting.  This request is to amend the Joint Planning Area and Interlocal Agreement amending Section 12, Term of Agreement for a three-year period extending the Effective Date.
