Approve Lease Agreement between Willow Oak Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. and Polk County. (No fiscal impact)

DESCRIPTION
Polk County has been utilizing the building and property located at 4210 Willis Road in the Willow Oak area to the west of Mulberry to provide fire rescue services for residents in the area for over 30 years under lease agreements with the owner of the property, Willow Oak Volunteer Fire Department, Inc., (“Willow Oak”). The current lease was entered into in May 1999 and has been amended multiple times with the current term due to expire on May 17, 2024. In order to bring the lease up to current standards and clarify some of the terms and responsibilities of each of the parties a new lease was prepared and presented to Willow Oak for a term of five years commencing May 18, 2024 with an option to renew for one additional five year term. Willow Oak has agreed to the proposed lease and has executed and delivered the Lease Agreement to the County. The County has plans to construct a replacement fire rescue station to serve this area within the next five years and is in the process of locating a site to acquire which will accommodate the new prototype station. Approving the aforementioned Lease Agreement will allow Polk County to continue to utilize the subject building and property to provide fire protection and rescue services to residents in the area until such time as a replacement station can be constructed.
RECOMMENDATION
Request Board approve the aforementioned Lease Agreement.
