DESCRIPTION

The Roads & Drainage Division received a citizen request for a traffic study on Nashville Road. In researching the request, the Roads & Drainage Division discovered Resolution #2012-035, establishing a speed zone of 15 M.P.H., adopted by the Board on May 1, 2012, which is attached to the proposed Resolution as Exhibit “A.”  Nashville Road is located in the Lakeland area in S-28, T-23S, R-22E, and is classified as a Local Residential road.

Staff conducted traffic studies along Nashville Road as outlined in FS 316.189, and investigated the five-year crash history.  Based on the research, it was determined that a posting of 20 M.P.H. is reasonable for this road.  To comply with statutory requirements, it is necessary for the Board to adopt a Resolution establishing the proposed speed limits.

RECOMMENDATION

Request Board adopt the associated Resolution to establish the proposed speed zone for Nashville Road. Cost for installation of signs is estimated at $230.12.

FISCAL IMPACT

Funding is budgeted in the FY 22/23 Transportation Millage Fund.
