DESCRIPTION

Polk County Utilities (PCU) and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) entered into agreement LPR0019 on August 25, 2022, to provide $525,000 in funding assistance for Crooked Lake Park Receivership Wastewater Treatment Facility Abandonment. The work plan associated with the funding agreement includes design, permitting, bidding, construction, and project management services for the construction of the lift station and force main needed to convey wastewater from Crooked Lake Park to the Lake Wales Wastewater Treatment Facility and for the abandonment of the failing package plant in the development.

The FDEP contacted PCU to extend an invitation to request additional funding for the project.  PCU requested and was granted an additional $83,050 to supplement the $525,000 for a total of $608,050 for the project.

In addition to the grant from FDEP, there are also $5,000,000 of ARP funds associated for the improvements required within the collection system of the Crooked Lake Park to bring the system into compliance with current regulations.
