DESCRIPTION

Research Agreement 18-019 with the University of Central Florida (UCF) was approved on May 1, 2018.  The County owns and operates the 2.16 million gallons per day (MGD) Hodge Street Water Production Facility (WPF) in the County’s East Regional Utility Service Area.  Hodge Street WPF is interconnected with the Waverly WPF but serves as the primary source of supply.  Services Authorization 18-019-07 with UCF was approved by the Board September 6, 2022.  The County originally requested that UCF perform an evaluation of treatment processes to determine effectiveness of the removal of total organic carbon and sulfides.  The evaluation includes the granular activated carbon (GAC) beds while also attempting to predict timelines and schedules for carbon replacement. Based on results of the ongoing assessment, the County has requested UCF provide additional services for the duration of 11 additional months.
