DESCRIPTION
Peace River Center for Personal Development, Inc. (PRC) operates two Crisis Stabilization Units (CSU) located in Lakeland and Bartow with a total of 50 beds available per day. Patients admitted to the facilities for services have access to counseling, behavioral health, and crisis support.
This funding provides financial support to PRC for uncompensated inpatient psychiatric services. Services eligible for reimbursement under this contract are for Polk County residents whose income is at or below 200% of the FPL guidelines and who are uninsured or underinsured.
Currently, the actual cost of a bed day in the CSU is $876.44. PRC has a funding source for unfunded clients. However, the source reimburses PRC at a rate of $493.39 per bed day. PRC must cover the shortfall so the crucial services can continue to be provided. To assist PRC with covering the shortfall, a fee schedule has been established to reimburse PRC $350 per patient per diem.
The contract will be effective retroactively from January 1, 2024 to September 30, 2025.

RECOMMENDATION
Approve the contract with PRC for uncompensated inpatient psychiatric services.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are available and budgeted in the Indigent Health Care Fund.
